To be clear, I think male directors get it perfect in their portrayals of men getting raped. Especially in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, when Lisbeth *spoiler* takes a door handle and shoves it up her rapist’s ass— it is a truly revolting scene (even though there were some members in the audience making zoo noises to show their approval.) There is no eroticism just carnage, suffering, so much suffering that pity starts to stir in your chest for him. So the lesson is: Fincher can do a great rape scene …with men as the victims.
